Urethane Casting Resin Shore A - Clearance
Clearance – Expired Shelf Life

Pour tough, flexible parts with Urethane Casting Resin Shore A. Available in two hardness variations, 40 Shore A and 60 Shore A. These urethane casting resins offer ease of use for softer, resilient part requirements. These urethane casting resins have been designed specifically for the pouring of prototype and production parts and can accept pigments to achieve opaque colors in finished castings.

When mixed thoroughly, pour the urethane slowly to aid the release of any air bubbles. When using Urethane Casting Resin Shore A kits, avoid water and all types of moisture contamination. Do not use any urethane kit with PVA Release Film, and do not mix with wooden mixing sticks. #2333 Plastic Paint Stirrers for Urethanes are recommended. To ensure a proper release from a mold, use at least four layers of #4121 Non-Silicone High Temp Paste Wax.

Urethane Casting Resins with Shore A hardness can completely cure at room temperature, but can also be heat cured up to 150°F for faster production rates.

Urethane Casting Resin - 60 Shore D - Clearance
Clearance – Expired Shelf Life

This 60 Shore D hardness Urethane Casting Resin is well suited for demanding industrial applications. Extremely tough, this urethane casting resin system exhibits very high tensile and tear strength, excellent elongation, and good abrasion resistance. Easily pour this amber, lower viscosity material in open casts and closed molds to produce incredibly durable foundry tools, patterns, or parts.

When mixed thoroughly, pour the urethane slowly to aid the release of air bubbles. When using Urethane Casting Resin – 60 Shore D kits, avoid water and all types of moisture contamination.

#3460 Urethane Casting Resin – 60 Shore D can completely cure at room temperature, but can also be heat cured up to 165°F. Typically, full properties of this urethane casting resin develop in 7 days at room temperature (75°F). Temperatures below 75°F will lengthen the cure time, and if the ambient temperature is below 60°F, additional heat may be necessary for proper cure. Allow casting to set for 12 to 18 hours at room temperature before an oven post cure of 8 hours at 150°F to 165°F. Allow to cool before demolding.

Clear Urethane Casting Resin - Clearance
Expired Shelf Life
#3500 Clear Urethane Casting Resin is perfectly water clear and won't yellow with UV exposure like an epoxy would. Also, it won't discolor in high humidity environments. This room temperature cure, two-part casting resin is self leveling and can be poured to create exceptionally rigid, durable, and impact resistant parts in applications that previously used acrylic or polycarbonate.

It is more resilient than clear polyester casting resins, and can be used to create quieter, more durable tabletops than clear epoxy resins. Typical applications include: lenses, clear reproduction parts, decorative pieces, prototype models, tabletops, and encapsulations. This resin can pour castings as shallow as 1/4" up to 3" deep at a time.

When mixed thoroughly, pour the clear urethane slowly to aid the release of air bubbles. It may be necessary to place the mixed resin in a degassing chamber to ensure all air is released to achieve a perfect casting. When using Clear Urethane Casting Resin, avoid water and all types of moisture contamination. Avoid direct contact with wood.

If using as a tabletop coating, it is advisable to clean the tabletop surface with alcohol and dry with a heat gun. This will ensure the surface is moisture free. Light heat can also be added to aide in outgassing during the cure cycle. Do not over heat. As a tabletop resin, our #3500 Clear Urethane is quieter than epoxy resins, and will not crack.

Sparkling Silver Glitterflake - Clearance
Clearance - Excess Inventory
Catch the Light with Silver Flake

Glitterflake is commonly used to repair damaged bass boats or to make any project stand out from the crowd. Flakes are 0.015" metallized polyester and are recommended for use with our #180 Gel Coat—a clear marine gel coat with excellent weathering properties and a high gloss suited to enhance the metallic glitter.

Glitterflake should be mixed thoroughly with clear gel coat more than one hour before it is to be applied. It is generally added at 10% by weight, but may be increased up to 20%. Adding more than 20% can cause curing problems including a distortion or ripple in the surface.

Get best results with Glitterflake by using it as one of three standard layers in lamination. For finished parts, these include:
  • A layer of pigmented gel coat at its base, used to conceal layers of reinforcement below.
  • The layer of Glitterflake blended with clear gel coat.
  • Ultimately, a protective layer of clear gel coat at the part's surface to optimize the metallic appearance of the flakes.

(Keep in mind that the sequence of applying these layers will change based on application. For boat repair and use with a plug, layers are added in the order as noted above. When using Glitterflake in a mold, the order is opposite: first, add the clear gel coat. Follow with Glitterflake layer, pigmented gel coat, and all subsequent reinforcement).

Styrene Thinner - Clearance
Clearance - Open Can, used for video production
General Purpose Styrene

Styrene is primarily used to thin polyester resin and gel coat before use. This is not a necessary step for the resins or gel coat on FibreGlast.com, but simply a preference for handling purposes.
  • When added to polyester resin, it enables and speeds the resin infusion process for vacuum bagging.
  • Fabricators may thin gel coat 2–5% with styrene to make them more suitable for heavy spray equipment.
