Increased Stiffness for Impressive Low Weight
This is a non-woven unidirectional fabric. Consequently, there is no crimping of the fibers and only minimal binder is used. Polyester fill threads on one side further reduce crimp potential. This results in the highest property unidirectional dry reinforcement available.
Our 4.3 oz/sq yd fabric is made from an Intermediate Modulus fiber that features a tensile modulus of 40 MSI. It is ideally suited for aerospace and racing applications where maximum properties in a single direction are critical.
IM Unidirectional Carbon Fabric (4.3 oz) Features
- Unidirectional fabrics add strength in just one direction.
- Never-twisted IM fiber with a tensile modulus of 40.0 MSI and strength of over 800 KSI
- 12" wide fabric
- Wets out quickly and easily
- Fatigue resistance for durable strength
IM Unidirectional Carbon Fabric (4.3 oz) Tips
- Ideally suited for aerospace and racing applications where maximum single-directional properties are crucial
- To maximize strength properties, use with an epoxy, like our System 2000 Epoxy Resin (#2000).

What is IM Unidirectional Carbon Fabric?
The IM (Intermediate Modulus) Unidirectional Carbon Fabric (#2596) from Fibre Glast features increased stiffness for impressive low weight. This is a non-woven unidirectional fabric with no crimping of the fibers and only minimal binder used. Polyester fill threads on one side further reduce crimp potential. This results in the highest property unidirectional dry reinforcement available.
The 4.3 oz/sq yd fabric is made from an Intermediate Modulus fiber that features a tensile modulus of 40 MSI. It is ideally suited for aerospace and racing applications where maximum properties in a single direction are critical.
Why Choose Intermediate Modulus Over Standard Modulus Carbon Fiber?
Intermediate Modulus carbon fiber delivers significantly higher stiffness (40 MSI typical vs 33 MSI for standard modulus) while maintaining exceptional tensile strength. The non-woven construction with minimal binder and polyester fill threads on one side reduces crimp potential. Never-twisted IM fiber maintains optimal fiber properties throughout the material.
What Are the Best Applications for IM Unidirectional Carbon?
The #2596 is ideally suited for aerospace and racing applications where maximum single-directional properties are crucial. Unidirectional fabrics add strength in just one direction. The 12" wide fabric lays up seamlessly side-by-side for wider coverage.
How Should IM Unidirectional Carbon Be Used for Best Results?
To maximize strength properties, use with an epoxy resin such as Fibre Glast System 2000 Epoxy (#2000).
Fibre Glast is committed to ensuring that every roll of fabric is First Quality and manufactured to the highest standards, delivering consistent properties and handling characteristics every time you order.
