Color Gel Coat is designed to be used in mold to produce UV resistant, blister resistant, high-quality parts when laying up polyester or vinyl ester parts. They can be used in repair applications with an air inhibitor such as Duratec High Gloss Additive.

Color Gel Coats are available in quart, gallon or five-gallon sizes. Gel Coat kits are available in quart, gallon and 4-gallon cases and come with (#69) MEKP catalyst. One gallon of gel coat will cover approximately 40-80 square feet, depending upon application.

What Is RAL 2001 Red Orange Color Gel Coat?

RAL 2001 Red Orange Color Gel Coat is a polyester gel coat matched to the RAL 2001 Red Orange standard, made to order for precise color repeatability. It is laid into the mold before the structural laminate, forming the hard, colored outer surface of the finished composite part. The Red Orange is integral to the gel coat, not a coating applied afterward.

Why Choose RAL 2001 Red Orange Color Gel Coat?

Red Orange sits firmly between red and orange in the RAL range, with a warm, vivid tone that is widely used on safety equipment, consumer products, and industrial composite parts where a strong, attention-grabbing red-orange finish is the specification. Fibre Glast matches it precisely to the RAL 2001 standard, so the color is consistent and repeatable across production runs. For physical color confirmation before ordering, the #4008-A RAL Color Book has printed swatches of all 188 RAL colors.

What Are the Best Applications for RAL 2001 Red Orange Color Gel Coat?

Safety equipment, consumer products, and industrial composite parts where a vivid, warm red-orange finish is required. For open-air repair work, combine with Duratec Hi-Gloss Additive for a tack-free cure.

How Should RAL 2001 Red Orange Color Gel Coat Be Used for Best Results?

RAL 2001 Red Orange Color Gel Coat is best applied by spraying over a clean, properly prepared mold surface. Catalyze with #69 MEKP at 1.5% to 2.5%, then build the film in 4 to 5 coats of roughly 5 mils each, giving each coat 15 to 20 minutes before applying the next, for a total film thickness of 20 to 25 mils. Confirm thickness with the #122-A Gel Coat Thickness Gauge. Thin to spray viscosity with #70 Styrene Thinner or Duratec #1039/#1040 Clear Hi-Gloss Additive as needed. Expect 40 to 80 square feet of coverage per gallon. Made to order; all Color Gel Coat sales are final.
