Prepreg 7781 E-Glass Overview
This fiberglass fabric features our 7781 E-Glass, part #543, pre-impregnated with a high strength epoxy resin system formulated for maximum flow and minimum surface porosity. This near-perfect resin content maximizes the properties of the fiberglass fabric, often chosen for aerospace and structural applications, and makes the way for repeatable, uniform parts.
Satin weave fiber glass fabrics are frequently specified for aerospace and structural applications, and offer excellent strength and surfacing characteristics.
Features
- Designed to be stored, shipped, and handled at room temperature—no refrigeration necessary
- Best-in-class prepreg fiber glass material provides outstanding strength to weight ratio
- Prepreg means less mess and waste; solvent and MDS-free
- Three recommended cure cycles, requiring at most 310°F
- Resin content 30%, +/- 3%
- 50" width is ideal for most layups
Tips
- Ideal for making high-strength parts that don't need to withstand high temperatures (up to 300°F)
- Three recommended ramp-up cure cycles, requiring at most 310°F
- 6 month shelf life at 75° does not require refrigeration
- Woven fabrics are strong reinforcements because the fibers are bundled into yarns oriented in just two directions. The warp and fill yarns run at 0 and 90 degrees respectively. Thus, fabrics are anisotropic, or strong in only two directions.

What is Prepreg 7781 E-Glass?
Prepreg is the common term for fabric reinforcement that has been pre-impregnated with a resin system. The resin system is typically an epoxy and already includes the proper curing agent. As a result, it is ready to lay into a mold without the addition of resin or the steps required of a typical hand lay-up.
When properly fabricated, parts made with Fibre Glast prepregs will have a clear shine and be free of air bubbles.
Why Choose Prepreg Over Dry Fabric with Separate Resin?
Fiberglass prepregs are less expensive than carbon fiber prepregs, but still offer a good strength-to-weight ratio and are often used in the construction of a wide variety of products.
What Are the Best Applications for Prepreg 7781 E-Glass?
The 8H satin weave base fabric conforms easily to complex shapes, making it suitable for parts with compound curves where precise draping and consistent resin content are critical.
How Should Prepreg 7781 E-Glass Be Used for Best Results?
Proper fabrication requires vacuum bagging and oven curing. There are three recommended cure cycles for Fibre Glast prepregs, all three producing similar properties. Always ramp up at a rate of no more than 5 degrees F per minute until the target temperature is attained. When laying up in a mold, a heat gun can be used to make fabric more pliable, but be careful as it will also become tackier.
For balanced strength, alternate ply orientation during layup.
Available as cut-to-length yardage (#2100, min 10 yd), 1-yard roll (#2100-A), 3-yard roll (#2100-B), and 5-yard roll (#2100-C).
