Duratec® StyroShield™ Primer

Details

Spray on Styrofoam to Create a Plug

Duratec® StyroShield™ Primer is an air-cured polyester primer designed to be applied directly to polystyrene foam (Styrofoam™). StyroShield™ contains microspheres that, when cured, forms a barrier that protects polystyrene foam from the chemicals in polyester-based laminating resins, gel coats, tooling resins, and other Duratec® products. With StyroShield™, low-cost polystyrene can be substituted for urethane foam in plug, mold, and pattern-building applications, making prototype molds, and sealing forms for cast concrete.

Duratec® StyroShield™ Primer is the perfect choice for:

  • Making patterns from low cost polystyrene foam
  • Making prototype molds or mold-direct construction
  • Anchoring decorative paints onto polystyrene foam
  • Sealing forms for cast concrete
  • Sealing architectural fixtures

Spray StyroShield™ using an HVLP gun with a 2.5 mm or larger nozzle. Apply at least 20 mils of StyroShield™ to ensure complete coverage and surface protection.

When in storage, the microspheres in StyroShield™ will float to the top and form a hard crust. Thorough mixing is required prior to use. Use a drill-driven mixer or paint shaker. The crust can be mixed back into the primer. When possible, store StyroShield Primer container upside down.

Requires 2% MEKP.

Duratec® is a registered trademark of DURA TECHNOLOGIES INC.

Quart size?

Great product. Would it be possible to sell this product in quarts due to it's shelf life?
