Target Strength and Avoid Frayed Edges
5 oz/sq yd, Various Widths, 0.0100" Thick, 17x17 Plain Weave
KEVLAR® tape is ideal for selective reinforcement of KEVLAR®, fiberglass, or carbon laminations and repairs. Its plain weave pattern matches our #2469 fabric and offers uniform strength and drapability for wrapping or laying in strips, particularly for applications of unique shape. They are ideally suited for marine and sporting goods applications. KEVLAR®, generally, is not suitable for applications that call for compressive strength.
KEVLAR® tape is called tape only for appearance and width—it is not adhesive backed. It is made to be used with a resin, like epoxy or vinyl ester. Finished edges make for ease in handling and keep them from unraveling. They make a great alternative to cutting strips from a larger piece of fabric.
Before starting your project with KEVLAR®, consider:
- KEVLAR® is difficult to cut, sand, and machine. Consider a dedicated pair of serrated scissors, like our#2733 Modified Kevlar® Scissors.
- Our KEVLAR® is not meant to be sewn.
- Unused KEVLAR® should be stored away from UV light.
Fibre Glast is committed to ensuring that every roll of fabric we handle is First Quality and manufactured to the highest standards, so that you can expect the same properties and handling characteristics every time you order.
KEVLAR® Fabric is made with genuine DuPont™ KEVLAR® fiber. DuPont™ and KEVLAR® are registered trademarks of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company and are used with permission.
Cutting composite grade KEVLAR® can be a headache! Serrated Scissors are designed to make precise, clean cuts for even the toughest fabrics. Unique design features a serrated lower blade that holds fabric in place, while a smooth upper blade makes the cut.
This tape is a bit expensive vs. other vendors I found however . Some boat suppliers have same tape at about 1/2 the cost.
