What is the All-In-One Fiberglass Repair Kit?

The All-In-One Fiberglass Repair Kit (#3027-A) from Fibre Glast includes everything needed for a small to medium fiberglass repair. The kit provides the reinforcement, resin, fairing compound, and tools required to complete a repair from start to finish without the need to source individual components separately.

Why Choose the All-In-One Fiberglass Repair Kit?

Successful fiberglass repairs require proper material selection and the right combination of reinforcement and resin. Initial fabrication of components results in both chemical and physical bonding, whereas repairs only consist of physical bonds.

Matching the thickness, density, and ply orientation of the original laminate when possible will result in an overall stronger repair. The All-In-One kit includes both woven fiberglass (#243-F, 7.5 oz) and chopped strand mat (#250-A, 1.5 oz) to allow fabricators to match common laminate schedules that combine both materials.

The kit uses polyester resin, which is a general-purpose resin suitable for a wide variety of repair applications. The included fairing compound allows for smoothing and shaping the repaired surface to match the surrounding area. Styrene wax is included to ensure proper surface cure on thin laminations or top coats that might otherwise remain tacky when exposed to air.

How Should the Fiberglass Repair Kit Be Used for Best Results?

Start by inspecting and measuring the damaged area. Increasing the overall surface area of the repair will create a stronger finished product. Taper or scarf sanding is the most common method employed to increase surface area.

Place each layer of reinforcement into its spot on the repair, ensuring proper orientation. Stop every few layers to compact and debulk the patch using the included squeegee and fiberglass roller. The vacuum bagging technique is the most uniform compaction method, but squeegees, rollers, or other clamping pressure will work adequately for small to medium repairs.
