High Gloss and Superior Hardness for Molds

Tooling Gel Coat is an abrasion resistant gel coat used for fabricating molds when gloss retention, superior hardness, exceptional craze resistance and minimum distortion are paramount. Our Orange tooling gel coat offers excellent contrast allowing you to gauge the gel coat coverage and differentiate between your finished part and the mold. The life of a good polyester mold may be extended considerably by the use of tooling gel coat. For best results, build the film thickness to 20 -25 mils. One gallon of gel coat will cover approximately 40-80 sq ft. #1040 Duratec Clear Hi-Gloss Additive can be added to further upgrade the gloss.

Formulated for 1.5% - 2.5% MEKP.

#188/69-A kit contains (1) QUART RESIN, (1) #69-A.

#188/69-B kit contains (1) GAL RESIN, (3) #69-A.

#188/69-BK kit contains (4) GAL RESIN, (12) #69-A.

Easy to use

I'm new to fiberglass and after reading a lot about your products I narrowed down to these products I purchased and they worked perfectly for my molds. Product was easy to use and worked as they should. I used similar products from Total Boat and they were harder to work with. I know I'm not supposed to but I'm going to say it....... shipping is expensive. I know it's hazardous material and it costs more.

I'm a hobbyist, making molds for carbon fiber pieces for aerodynamic bicycles. I was in the middle of a project months back, and ran out of this gel coat. I went to a local boat supply shop and picked up a gallon of their orange gel coat. Price was lower than FG, and the material seemed to work well, but I had tons of trouble with parts sticking to the mold, and bits of their gel coat transferring to the carbon fiber part, cracking. I re-made a 2 part mold, using FG's gel coat, and just made my first piece in the mold. The part pretty much jumped out of the mold. Much happier now :) (using FibRelease)

The Orange Tooling Gelcoat goes on the treated plug very nicely. It is quick thick so building up the working surface of the mold is easy. I brushed it directly on my treated plug as application. It worked well. Make sure your barriers are well waxed though or you'll get a nasty surprise.
Once in place it sands and polishes nicely as after a full cure its rock hard and stable.
Challenging to pour cleanly from can so if working many small batches get a pump.

This IS THE STUFF TO USE!!
After straying, and trying a cheaper competitors equivalent product, I will not attempt mold construction again without FibreGlast's genuine Orange Tooling GelCoat. There really is NO COMPARISON!
This is really tough stuff with consistent reliable results. First quality materials!
