Duratec Grey Vinyl Ester Primer |
| |
This primer is used as a coating for vinyl ester and polyester mold repair and restoration. It can easily be applied with a sprayer, roller or brush to achieve a heavy surface up to 40 mils thick. Thinning this material with #2306 Duratec Thinner
at 10%-20% will allow for improved spray flow through a siphon or HVLP gun. The high impact resistance and low porosity make this primer a great alternative to using tooling gelcoat for in-mold applications. The heat distortion temperature is rated up to 300 degrees F to significantly reduce shrinkage and deterioration due to excessive temperatures, and after a quick cure in 1-4 hours, it can easily be sanded.
Sand the primer to the desired finish and wait 8 hours prior to compounding and polishing. Catalyze with 2% MEKP.

Duratec Vinyl Ester Mold Repair |
| |
This 2-part repair putty is used to permanently repair holes, crack, and chips in vinyl ester or polyester mold surfaces. For molds that require extreme durability and strength, this putty is an ideal choice. Quickly fill damaged areas with up to a 1/4" of material in each application. For repairs that require a thicker application, simply sand the area and repeat the process. Its 300 degrees F heat distortion temperature allows it to resist thermal breakdown due to high exothermic or mold temperatures. Also, this putty can quickly cure in 20-30 minutes to allow for immediate sanding, compounding, and prepping with no need for tooling gelcoat. When fully cured, sanded, and polished, this putty exhibits excellent hardness and gloss equal to or greater than the original mold surface.
Catalyze at 3% with the included catalyst and mix throughly. Only catalyze what can be applied within 6-8 minutes. Apply with a squeegee, such as our #62 Plastic Squeegee
or our #1108 Rubber Squeegee
, or with a spatula, or putty knife.
