5 oz/sq yd, 50" Wide, 0.012" Thick, 17 x 17 4HS Weave
in 4HS is often preferred for maximum conformability. 4HS construction means that one filling thread (width) floats over 3 warp (length) threads resulting in a fabric that looks different on each side and features conisiderable conformability and drape. Along with being highly impact resistant, this satin weave is most often selected for aerospace and structural designs. Generally, KEVLAR®
is not suited for applications that call for compressive strength. It is meant to be used with a resin, like our System #2000 epoxy.
Before starting your project with KEVLAR®
- To produce a symmetrical laminate with a satin weave, you must invert alternating plies.
- KEVLAR® is difficult to cut, sand, and machine. Consider a dedicated pair of serrated scissors, like our #1731-A.
- Our KEVLAR® is not meant to be sewn.
- Unused KEVLAR® should be stored away from UV light.
