Carbon Fiber Veil
Corrosion-Resistant, Sandable Surface Layer
0.2 oz, 35.5" Wide, 0.0021" Thick
This veil mat is a thin ply of continuous strand fibers that are looped randomly throughout the roll of the material. It is held together with a light binder and is the consistency of tissue paper—it is not intended for structural use.
Carbon Fiber Veil is ideally suited for several applications:
- Place it in a mold directly behind the surface coat to minimize the print-through of the heavier reinforcing cloths applied later. It will permit surface sanding of finished parts without compromising the reinforcing fabric below.
- Use it with sandwich cores. Place veil mat directly over the core to optimize bond-line thickness. In this case, it's also effective at keeping excess resin from draining into cells of honeycomb cores when a vacuum is not being used.
- Use for applications where corrosion-resistant barriers are required. The non-woven construction of the graphite veil allows a resin-rich surface that increases chemical stability and reduces the risk of micro-cracks forming in the composite surface.
- Carbon veils can also be used for grounding a composite structure, minimizing the build-up of static electricity that could prove dangerous when in contact with explosive liquids and gases.
Carbon Fiber Veil is compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins. Fibre Glast is committed to ensuring that every roll of fabric we handle is First Quality and manufactured to the highest standards, so that you can expect the same properties and handling characteristics every time you order.
Typical full roll length is 125 yards.

Veil is sold by the linear yard, either as a prepackaged quantity or by continuous yardage.
Veil is available in pre-cut lengths that measure one yard (#1064-A, roll), three yards (#1064-B, roll), and five yards (#1064-C, roll). Each is packaged and sold separately. For your convenience, these "prepacks" can be purchased in any combination. However, if the length for the veil totals 10 yards or more, we suggest you purchase it in continuous, "cut to length" yardage.
Continuous, "Cut to Length" Yardage
If you know in advance that you intend to purchase 10 yards or more of veil, it should be ordered in continuous, "cut to length" yardage. In this case, veil will be cut once according to the total yardage ordered, and customers receive a price-per-yard discount as compared to prepacks.
Quantity discounts continue to deepen as the yardage increases for any one cut of veil.
