Details

For Precise, Repeatable, High-Strength Parts

These braided carbon biaxial sleeves feature the desirable cosmetics of a 2x2 twill pattern. They can be slid over a prepared mandrel or cylinder to create straight or tapered tubing.

Braided sleeves will completely conform to the shape of products with changing geometries like prosthetics and hockey sticks, improving overall performance, minimizing weight, and maximizing the ultimate tensile strength of carbon.

Features

  • 2x2 Twill weave for great conformability, strength and aesthetics
  • 45° Angle twill weave orientation
  • Wets out easily with resin
  • Fatigue resistance for durable strength

Tips

  • The sleeves can be increased from their base diameter up to 30% and decreased up to 70%. This means that our 2" sleeve can be used in a single application ranging from 0.6" to 2.6" in diameter.
  • When expanded, a braided reinforcement works much like a shark's body, orienting itself to the direction of force. This actually strengthens its outer skin, enabling it to withstand pressure and carry load, and to tolerate damage and fatigue. If a puncture does occur, the sleeve provides a slow, controlled failure, rather than a more damaging and potentially dangerous blowup.
  • Laying up sleeves is predictable, repeatable, and suitable for precise manufacture of composite parts. Braided sleeves are extremely resistant to cracks between layers, reducing the possibility of delaminating and increasing the strength of the product.
  • To maximize the fiber properties, use with epoxy or vinyl ester resins.
  • Polyester resin is also suitable, and is primarily used in cosmetic applications where higher strength-to-weight ratios are not a factor.

Shipping

All prepackaged rolls, when ordered alone, will typically ship in a small box. Where possible, we will combine ordered items to reduce the number of boxes shipped.

Sizes

Braided Carbon Biaxial Sleeve All sleeve is sold by the linear yard, either as a prepackaged quantity or by continuous yardage. Prepacks Sleeve is available in pre-cut lengths that measure one yard (#2610-A, roll), three yards (#2610-B, roll), and five yards (#2610-C, roll). Each is packaged and sold separately. For your convenience, these "prepacks" can be purchased in any combination. However, if the length for any one cut of sleeve totals 10 yards or more, we suggest you purchase it in continuous, "cut to length" yardage. Continuous, "Cut to Length" Yardage If you know in advance that you intend to purchase 10 yards or more of sleeve, it should be ordered in continuous, "cut to length" yardage. In this case, sleeve will be cut once according to the total yardage ordered, and customers receive a price-per-yard discount as compared to prepacks. Quantity discounts continue to deepen as the yardage increases for any one cut of sleeve.

Fantastic Quality carbon sleeve

Braided carbon

For my application The Weave of the material was excellent, the first thing I did was take a propane torch to the end of the material to be sure that it was straight carbon and no additional fibrous materials involved. It turned a nice cherry red which indicated no other materials was involved so therefore the material work very well for my application.

Awesome product!!

I searched the internet hi and low for some carbon fiber sleeving in the size I needed. I hit pandit with Fibreglast!! Its for my racecar so I am very picky about the quality. When the box was delivered I was somewhat apprehensive about opening it. So many times you jus never get what you pay for. To my excitement the sleeving far exceeded my expectations! Its looks so professional on my car and it didn't break the bank for me to buy it! Thank you Finreglast for such a awesome buying experience!!!

Not just for cosmetics

I bought the 2" tubes so I could reinforce my windshield frame after I cut my roof of my car out for a targa top. I cut it to the length I wanted the took a piece of string to tie one end off. I then place a rod down the sleeve before wetting it down. Then I repeated cutting another to length, tied it off and slide it over the fist one then wet it down. then I slide both down my windshield frame, then using the rod inside to press against the edges so it would hug the frame from the inside out. After doing both sides there isn't any flex to my windshield what's so ever. No one will ever see the carbon but definitely did what I wanted it to do.

Good Product, But Design Tips Included

The woven carbon sleeve is a very nice product. Having one of the electric scissors was great, too. However, I was repairing a broken carbon tube and what I should have done was combine the 2" and 4" so that as my wall thickness built up, I could switch to the 4" to slide it over the wet layup for the inner layers.

I use it for wrapping oars, works better than anything else that I've used.

I was disappointed that the 4" woven carbon fiber sleeve was a flat measurement. I assumed it was a diameter not just half the circumference. Measurements of size should be a bit more clear.
