Reinforcements are the most critical
aspect of any project. Nonetheless, some folks get sidetracked at saving
money at this critical step and don't fully realize what a difference
first quality makes. Whether it is fiberglass, carbon fiber or any reinforcement, fabric
weavers have very strict guidelines about fabrics which are considered
First Quality. When they certify a First Quality fabric, it can be used
in any of the most demanding applications.
Sometimes a fabric has a small flaw
which constitutes second quality. But in the reinforcement industry, there
is nothing lower than seconds. If it has a hole big enough to put your
fist through, it is still second quality.
Does that matter? It usually does. If
your project is at all critical, it is important to realize that flaws
which might not be visible to your eye can easily result in part failure.
We require all of our incoming fabrics to arrive with certifications confirming
that they have met the rigors of First Quality testing.
Additionally, maintaining the standards
that we do means that each fabric is First Quality finished as well. In
the reinforcement industry, fabrics are finished with special chemical
and mechanical processes to ensure that the fabric will be compatible
with certain resins. All of our fabric finishes are designed to ensure
polyester, epoxy and vinyl ester compatibility. This means that if you
buy your reinforcements here, it will be compatible with those resins
every single time.
First Quality makes a difference with
resins as well. Not only is the First Quality specification important
but shelf life is critical as well. Polyester and vinyl ester resins particularly
do not last a year. If you purchase resin that has floating "eyes"
or has started to gel in the bottom of the can, you will never achieve
the full properties of your reinforcement. We guarantee 6 month shelf
life with all of our resins except vinyl ester which is guaranteed for
only 3 months. You can wet-out that first layer of expensive reinforcement
knowing that your resin will yield top performance.
It even matters with supplies. Some
brushes will dissolve in resin. Some cups will dissolve in acetone. Some
materials will react with metals. Although you can work around these problems,
we stock supplies that are all tested to be suitable with any of our resins.
First Quality makes a difference! We
are proud to be a certified supplier by many government agencies and contractors.
We look forward to earning your trust as well! |
